One of the objectives of the Retired Educators of New York is to work toward the advancement of education in the state and country. In an attempt to help meet that objective, RENY has developed a $1,000 grant to assist full time educators with an innovative program or project. To be eligible for this grant an educator must be a full time teacher/administrator in a public school system in the counties of Cayuga, Chenango, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga or Oswego. The application will be for the entire $1,000. The grant funds may be used for a variety of purposes such as working toward a higher degree or national certification, designing a project for any number of reasons such as improving student achievement, behavior or self – esteem, in supporting issues such as bullying, teen pregnancy etc.
The applicant must provide a description of any program or project and demonstrate why the grant is needed. The winner of the grant will be determined by a team of judges made up of members of RENY. The judges’ decision will be final. Grant applications must be returned by May 1st 2016 Winner will be notified by the close of school in June.
