Federal Legislative Priorities
- RENY supports federal legislation measures to protect Social Security and Medicare for the future.
S.770 Senator Bernard Sanders (I-VT) – Social Security Expansion Act Provides for an increase in certain benefits related to the Social Security program and the extension of payroll taxes on wages, salaries, and self-employment to income above $250,000 to ensure the long-term financial security of the Social Security and Medicare programs.
H.R. 1700 Val Hoyle (D-IL) To enhance Social Security Benefits and ensure the long – term solvency of the Social Security Program.
- RENY supports federal legislation measures to Protect, Preserve, and Strengthen Medicaid. We oppose all efforts to cut Medicaid funding and reductions in Medicaid delivery services.
- RENY supports the elimination of taxes on Social Security Benefits income if it includes accommodation for replacing the lost revenue into the Social Security Trust Fund to prevent earlier insolvency of the Trust Fund surplus.
- RENY supports the Department of Education as a cabinet position with all of its beneficial programs. We do not support any diminishment of funds for these essential programs or the staff that administer them.

RENY opposes H.R. 899 Thomas Massie (R-KY) – a bill to abolish the federal Department of Education which states, “The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2026”.
